Re: Do I have to take the hipo exhaust manifold off to replace spark plug?

I guess I don't quite understand the plug socket issue without a pic, so if you haven't tried this idea get a plug socket that is just a bit longer than the plug and has wrench flats on the ratchet end of it. Use just the socket by itself and the wrench that fits it. Usually 5/8 or 13/16.

clearly the pattern they used to manufacture the HiPo's I have were spot on.....no issues installing/removing spark plugs.   Scott Drake manifolds compliments of CJ Pony parts.....

Most early Ford plugs are a 13/16, BUT, this got me wondering if there is a plug that fits that has a 5/8 hex and would thus provide more space for a socket to get onto it.

Re: Do I have to take the hipo exhaust manifold off to replace spark plug?

nope its an autolite plug, I replaced them all at the same time. definately 13/16". The manifold is sitting right on the plug. Lucky me, no exhaust leak. I'll definitely be trimming up to 1/8" in that area. I didn't get any work done this father's day weekend.

I hear ya on Fathers Day. Had the grandkids over to play with. Oh ya the daughter and son in law brought them.

I have Eldebrock heads on my car. They recommend 5/8 I guess because the barrel is smaller. While going thru figuring out what heat range I needed I ended up with a set of 13/16. I didn't even notice it till I took them back out. Those were NGK brand.
