Back-up Lights

Just finished wiring up the back-up lights.  Early 65, so no plug-ins.  Had to run new wire.  More work than I wanted to do and not sure it was worth it.  Good safety feature I suppose.

Re: Back-up Lights

Now that you finished the work, it no longer matters that it required more effort than you wanted.  Now the only important thing is whether or not you are happy with the results.  Forget about the work invested.  Myself, I always like having back up lights.  Depending on your parking habits, they might be useful often.  They are for me.

1968 T-code Coupe with a 302.  Nice car, no show stopper for sure, but I like it.

Re: Back-up Lights

I had to run new wire for reverse lights..im was happy with it..make sure you put a fuse inbetween the power and the lights ..put it closer to your power source

Re: Back-up Lights

You worried about installing them for a month and then spent an hour wiring them up.   What is that in total labor?  About 721 hours?
At least your labor is free when working on your own car...

Re: Back-up Lights

The back up lights are stock on my 68 but they seem  all but useless, need to find some kind of flame thrower bulbs that won't melt the lenses.

Re: Back-up Lights

Hey Rudi,

Try LED's at O'Reilly's or from Glen.

Re: Back-up Lights

The acronym LED covers a very broad spectrum.
Any specific bulb manufacturer, number and source?

Re: Back-up Lights

As Al mentioned, call Glenn or Steve (936) 372-0022.

Steve already has them on his Stang.

Can't the info be posted here for those interested so Glen or Steve won't have to personally respond to every person interested?

Re: Back-up Lights

OUCH!!!
I switched my back-up light  sockets to accept double filament bulbs(I forget the number but they are the same as the tail light bulbs) I then wired them so BOTH filaments light up when they are energized. They are.......twice...as bright as the stock back up lights!! So far....no melt down of the lenses.

Re: Back-up Lights

I appreciate creative engineering.  I am not going to tinker with anything else until after the bash;but, then anything could happen. Oh, the possibilities.
