Looking around the DUI and Pertronix modules have spotty reviews.  Like half 5 star and half one star.  It seems that exactly like the factory modules if you get a good one they are fine, and if you don't they fail in short order.  The Accel modules have the best reviews from what I can see.  MSD is second best.  I used to run the Holley Annihiliator, but they don't seem to be being made anymore. 

I do have to wonder if any of it is installer error though.  Those modules need the zinc paste to form a perfect seal to use the distributor as a heat sink.  If that's not done, no wonder they fail. 

Apparently there was a class action lawsuit against Ford for the modules being defective and causing vehicles to just die going down the road.  I never personally experienced that, but apparently it was quite common.  Here's some interesting reading if you're inclined:

I think part of the problem with the Pertronix modules is that the customers absolutely refuse to read and follow the installation instructions. I have been running one for years and had no problems. I probably just jinxed myself with that statement.

I put plenty of the zinc “cream” on the new module. Pretty simple, but only two months of life out of it.  I think I’ll try the Accel module next and carry the stock one and the tool around with me.

The remote (fender) mount TFI modules seem to be way better. Big 'ole heat sink and away from direct engine heat.
