When coming back from the Loco Coyote I followed Mochaman back to Steve's in a very spirited drive. It wasn't really fun because of my steering. I'm not lying. My old 97 T-Bird was more fun than this car! So everyone is always talking about the Shelby drop but I know it is for the early cars. I've heard that there is a similar mod for the 70 Mustang (mine is a convertable if that makes a difference) but don't know anything about it. I've also been asking around about the different steering systems and I think I like the Borgson system the best in conjunction with the drop mod. Thoughts?

I did the Shelby drop on every 70 Mustang I owned. That was over ten of them. Well worth doing.
Borgeson seems to be liked by everyone I know that has one.
Of course, it’s probably the yellow plug wires slowing you down...

Its what I run on my '67. The '65-'70 cars are really quite similar chassis wise. Shelby stopped doing the drop because the bean counters at Ford deemed it too expensive, not for any reason owing to the cars having changed. The real solution was for Ford to just build the cars that way, no idea why they didn't. I've got a template I can loan you for the drop, send me a PM and pay round trip shipping.
On the Borgeson system I'd advise getting their pressure reducing kit, and dropping it down by going to 4-5 shims from the factory 1. As delivered the pumps put out too much pressure and they make the steering feel twitchy. The kit is Borgeson part number 899001.
If applicable to the '70 style column get the Mustang Steve lower bearing, because the setup Borgeson gives you is garbage.

I was in Mochaman’s car during that drive and I can attest that his Fat Man Version 2 front suspension worked very well at speed.

I am very pleased with my Borgeson. I am running a 5.0 pump and it works perfect. I also have the Shelby drop and the car steers very well.

That was a very fun drive. My steering was solid through the whole thing.

I was using the whole road. I had to turn the wheel to get the car to bank (lean) out then turn the wheel to get it to turn and then back it off to keep it in the turn. I could tell you were having fun when you were leaving me in the turns. I was doing good on the straight aways thanks to my yellow wires! And the whole time we never went over 25.

It was a spirited drive, both ways. I had fun but it was a lot of work keeping up with the 427 in front of me even though we never broke the speed limit. Just ask RPM.
My 67 has a stock front suspension and will get the Arning drop along with new springs and Bilstein shocks in all four corners over the winter. I'm hoping this will help me keep up with the 427, at least in the corners.

I bought and have recieved the Borgeson conversion. I'm going to use the original pump after I reseal it. It's leaking. I also going to remove all the power steering linkage. No sense hauling all that around. I still have all the original steering components that the car came with. I put on a Boss 302 steering sector for quiker ratio steering but found out that it is the same for power steering later so I will leave that in place. The instructions for the kit say to tap in to collapse the steering column. It's already been collapsed before I bought the car. I've read to install the MS column bearing. There are 2 of them. Which one? Any one know? Does the column still need to be cut when putting in the bearing?
I'm going to do the Arning mod while I am doing this also. The whole project shouldn't take more than a couple of hours. I'm starting now to get ready for the next Bash!

I have the jig and correct size drill bit. Last car I used it on was the red 70 at the bash.
