Sally I heard Edels typically lack performance compared to Holley.....(talking equals here; 650-to-650, 750-to-750 ect )

Ty Alessandro, I appreciate that!  you will hear from me

You have to be real careful calling carbs with the same cfm rating "equal".  There is no industry wide standard depression at which to test carbs.  What this means is that manufacturer A could sell a 650 that performs like Manufacturer B's 600, or 750.  So a side by side test on an engine that needs more or less from a carb in actually intentionally misleading, because its biased to one manufacturer or the other from the start.

I've also yet to see a legit test where an Edelbrock and a Holey have gone head to head where each carb is tuned by a pro, and different size carbs are tried to eliminate the shenanigans noted above.  I also don't think you'll ever see that.  Magazines, which was where all those tests came from, are fed by advertising dollars.  They would never do anything to jeopardize that, and showing deference to one advertiser or another is a quick way to lose money.  Ever notice how whatever performance part they test gets a glowing review?  Even when there are cheaper and better products on the market?  Keep leafing through that rag, you'll find that part's manufacturer with some ad space in there, or at the very least acknowledge that the article itself IS an advertisement for the part (testers got the part for free after all).
