Crane Roller Rocker Question

I was installing the Crane Roller Rockers on my 351W and I noticed that each rocker has either a 4 or a 6 cast into it... Can anyone tell me if they have any significance? (i.e. do all the 4's go on the intake valves and all the 6's go on the exhaust valves...or vice versa)

Re: Crane Roller Rocker Question

Are the Ford style part numbers on the rockers Different?  The one on the left starts with "F8ZE".  While the one on the right is "FTZE".

Re: Crane Roller Rocker Question

I can see how it looks that way in the first picture.  Here's another one that shows the part numbers more clearly.  They are both part number F3ZE-6529-AB which really makes it even more puzzling about the 4 and the 6.

Re: Crane Roller Rocker Question

Ok, I just gave this a second look.  I have 5 cylinders that have a 4 and a 6 on them, and 3 cylinders that have two 4's on them... So that means that I don't have enough 6's to put a 4 and 6 on each cylinder.  That fact combined with the fact that they have the same part number on them makes me think that the 4 and the 6 are interchangeable when it comes to installation.

Maybe the 4 and the 6 are just what mold they were cast out of for quality control purposes??? just a guess

Re: Crane Roller Rocker Question

I'm sure its an internal control number for Crane, or something like that.  No bearing on function.

Whenever I made forging or casting dies with identical multiple cavities each was numbered for quality control.
If there was an issue the cavity number could be identified.
I'm guessing you are correct in that statement
