Re: Will a power steering pump from a 90 5.0 work in a 65 Mustang

I looked up the Napa NPS7311 fitting. Still not fully clear how this is coupled to 289 power steering hose.  Anyone have pictures and additional part numbers required?

This is on a 95 donor with the pump up high. the factory length was perfect.
For a 92 donor, which should need a shorter hose, I'd put some tape around the hose at 12" from where you want the centreline of the Napa fitting to end up, mark what angle you need it to exit the hose in relation to the angle at the other end, then take it to a hydraulic hose type repair shop and have it crimped on with a new crimp collar.

Re: Will a power steering pump from a 90 5.0 work in a 65 Mustang

Thanks for the picture and the help.  I appreciate it.  Didn’t realize a banjo bolt would fit the 92 pump.  In the meantime I headed to town today with both hoses with me to find a solution. (What’s patience?)  Found another solution to add to our toolbox.  From Advanced Auto Parts ( or hydraulic shop) Gates part number G50510-0606 (old part 80732) hydraulic fitting.  It’s a 3/8” hydraulic hose to 3/8” compression for hydraulic lines.  There is one for 1/4” hose to 1/4” compression as well but I did not get the part number for that today.
Both pump end hardlines (65 and 92) were cut as long as possible next to hydraulic crimp.
Then (65) remaining pump end crimp was cut off.  The hydraulic hose to compression fitting is crimped onto the (65) line. Would post a picture, haven’t figured it out yet.
