Muffler shop in Dallas area?

1966 Mustang w/ 1988 5.0 HO swap, JB Shorty Headers, dual exhaust.

Planning on getting the car towed to a muffler shop for my custom exhaust installation.  Haven't  decided on my options but it will have to fit in w/ a full subframe kit.  Looking for a shop that has worked on classics, definitely not a chain.

Any recommendation?

Just out of curiosity, what did the entire effort cost you?  I'll have to get it towed there and back so that will probably be around $150 off the bat.

Re: Muffler shop in Dallas area?

Pronto muffler usually does a good job but have limited classic experience. The one in Mckinney (on 380) is awesome. Owns classics himself and respect the cars and owners he works with

The guy i would really go to though is Bill the muffler king in Garland (11118 Garland Rd, Dallas). They do all sorts of classic car work and they do it well.. he is the one I go for alignment on my mustang too

Re: Muffler shop in Dallas area?

I have Duncanville Automotive do the work on my Mustang and other cars that I can't or won't do. He did my complete exhaust systems on both of my Mustangs. They were custom made by Joe, the owner. One was on JBA shorties with a H pipe and the other one on a new Y pipe. I've seen other classics and old cars in his shop besides mine. He takes his time to make sure it comes out right. The first guy I've seen paint the welds so they wouldn't rust out.

Re: Muffler shop in Dallas area?

In August of 2017, I got an estimate from a muffler shop that came with good recommendations. It was $708 for 2-1/2” pipe over the axle to the bumper. Mufflers not included. I bought a Flowmaster kit for less money and now have the mufflers from the kit to sell at some point.

As for getting to and from the shop, you should look into AAA Gold. Gets you 4 free tows up to 100 miles per person on the account per year. I think it was about $175 for the year. There is a week to 10 day grace period before you can get the first free tow.

The AAA rate for hotel rooms is generally the best rate too.
