Clutch Adjustment

1967 Mustang 289 3-speed.  I had the clutch pedal housing bearings done by Mustang Steve...new clutch...new pressure plate...new pilot bushing and throw out bearing.  I replaced all springs and bushings in the linkage.  The clutch will not adjust correctly.  Engagement occurs when the pedal is already halfway up through its travel.  I have searched and read every thread on multiple forums.  Adjustment all the way on the clutch rod will not correct this issue.  Do I have the wrong throw out bearing....pressure plate...?????
Thanks

Re: Clutch Adjustment

Suggest that you check the "Z" bar as the welds to the cross tube (engine to frame) can crack and affect the travel of the setup.
Otherwise the new throw-out bearing maybe not be as thick as the old one.
Or, the new pressure plate fingers may not be the same height as the old one.
If is not the Z-bar, try making a longer 'push' rod ... as this may be easier then taking everything apart.  This will at least get you to try the new setup and go from there.

Re: Clutch Adjustment

Be sure z bar is not bent.

Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.

Re: Clutch Adjustment

How many times has the flywheel been cut? Each time it’s cut it moves the pressure plate away from the throw out bearing’s range of operation

I'm not a complete idiot.....pieces are missing. Tom

sounds strange have no effect because in my z bar set up a small move on link regulator , has a great influence on
clutch pedal  move .
could be you have bend the clutch fork ? .
if was my car i will check again throwout bearings and press plate and verify depth and flywheel thickness.
good luck !

Everything is new...even the Z-Bar but I am leaning towards a throw-out bearing issue...Thanks

Suggest you check out the Z bar and linkage first.  Compare the old linkage setup vs. the new setup, as the new may not be exact copy of the original.  Seems easier then pulling the transmission, just saying.
