Putting a 351w into 67 mustang, using 289 bell housing,etc. I got a brand new flywheel from the
engine builder (steel high performance) for 10" clutch set up. Looking at a Brute power/ perfection
clutch also called zoom street performance clutch # 30008. Going from 225 hp to about 350hp
(flywheel horsepower). Will be using wide ratio 4 speed, 9" 325 rear end. I don't want to use a
oem clutch kit. Has anyone used one of these clutch kits. I wanted to hear the pros and cons
and maybe other clutch suggestions (budget is limited). THANKS mustang stu

I like the McCleod clutch in my car now that I got from Brent Lykins, Lykins Motorsports. He is a distributor for Ram & McCleod and can provide some good insight to selecting a clutch and disc once he knows about your set up. He has been competitive on pricing for what I’ve purchased from him.

I'm a NAPA guy. Their diaphragm style clutch/pressure plate = smooth/EZ pedal and would hold 350+ HP no problem unless..........you have a tubbed/narrowed rear with 14+" wide sticky tarz. Then the T-5 will scatter next!

Ford Racing King Cobra is a goods choice for that power level. Its easy to use (light effort) but grips well on a street car. The price is also really good.

I believe the 67 would use a 157 tooth flywheel but after 50 years who knows what can be there? Just make sure the flywheel coming with the 351 matches the bellhousing size. Personally I’d use a stock clutch on the street. For one the less pedal force needed. You’re probably going to loose traction and spin the tires long before you exceed the limit of a stock clutch and it’ll be easier on the thrust bearing.
My old motor in my 66 had a Rockauto close out special, never had any issues with it. My present motor, a GT40P I’m using a King Cobra clutch kit only because is was given to me for free. Works well but requires more pedal effort then what I was hoping for and that’s with a MS roller bearing kit on the pedal hanger and a clutch linkage made with rod ends. I’m almost sorry I didn’t use my old clutch.

To everyone so far, thanks for all the good input. I put a 10" clutch 20 years ago,I believe its a 157
tooth flywheel. 6sally6 said check NAPA clutch's which I did, they sell a LUK clutch kit for my set up
from what I'M hearing, this looks like the way to go.I don't want to over clutch and push my leg off every
time I shift. I won't be at the drag strip,mostly cruising and street driving. New flywheel,clutch kit, flywheel bolts, pressure plate bolts, I only want to do this once. I have new z bar 69 351w ,will be checking the rest of the linkage, I put new bushings in the clutch,brake pedal bracket 2 years ago
(power brake conversion). It's great to hear all this input, it's steering me in right direction that I

I run the King Cobra in my '67. The pedal effort is quite light IMO. Of course, pedal effort is like anything else that goes along with how something feels. A guy used to driving a Honda is going to think any V8 clutch is stiff and vice versa. Then there's leg strength, etc. I grew up driving old school cars and trucks with mechanical linkage clutch actuation. Most things feel light in comparison.
