Re: Over drive

Not sure if Glen needs a core, but here's a decent priced one. https://dallas.craigslist.org/ndf/pts/d/richardson-ford-mustang-t5-5-speed-borg/6802360909.html

Re: Over drive

I'd avoid that one.  Tag number indicates its from a '99 Mustang (meaning V6, as the V8s were using the T45 by that point).  It will also use the electronic speedo instead of cable drive like the older ones.  I know people have used the V6 transmissions before, but I believe something is off with the input shaft length or something that prevent it from being a simple bolt in.

Re: Over drive

Progress report , Pulled the pedal support out , Found that on a 71 you can get it out with out pulling the dash , removed oil cooler lines and all connections to the C-6 Dropped the exhaust down , Now on to getting the tranny out. And by the way I think my wife thinks I have lost my mind.Ordered the pedal from modern drive line. May order there cable clutch also unless some has a better idea. Need to source flywheel clutch pilot bearing bell housing etc.

If its worth doing do it right !

Re: Over drive

If Mustang Steve makes a cable conversion for your year use that.  I initially bought the MD one and after seeing how much of a PITA it was to install went looking for something else and hit on the MS one.

Clutch wise the Ford Racing King Cobra is a great, and economical choice.  I'd use the roller pilot bearing for a 5.0.  More expensive than a bushing, but they essentially never wear out.  On the flywheel there's a lot of options.  You need to know what balance your engine has, probably 28 oz.  If its a 2 piece RMS then its definitely 28 oz.  The Fox bellhousing will need a 157 tooth flywheel.  Ford Racing has a nice one that's about $270, but there are cheap offshore ones for like $100.  I've used both with success.  Don't forget the pressure plate pins & bolts, and flywheel bolts.  Since a lot of the stuff is for a 5.0 you can use places like American Muscle and LMR, which carry all the 5.0 stuff.
