Cable on the left has a ball type end. Cable on the right is like the one I got from MS. The cable on the right does not fit well into the clutch fork and I am wondering if there should be something like the ball that slides over the cable end to seat it in the clutch fork. Also, is there a clip I should have that clips onto the white section to keep it in the bell housing?

No clip is used. The cable is installed under alot of tension, so there is no way the housing can move. If it makes you feel better, buy a c-clip at a hardware store. Just be advised it serves no purpose once the cable is installed. Except maybe to make your life more difficult should you ever need to remove the cable.
All the adjustable cables have the smaller spherical nut. They fit fine, same as Ford Racing cable.
Being smaller hex makes it easier to get a wrench in place to lock the jam nut and the adjusting spherical nut together, which is not a requirement for the non adjustable cable.

Ok, I think part of my problem might be that I was installing it incorrectly. Does the long nut go in front of the clutch fork (rear facing side) and is used to adjust the clutch or does it go behind the clutch fork (front facing side)?

if you go to mustangsteve's web site, there are printed instructions there. Find and click on the 65/66 clutch cable conversion kit. When it opens, look under the price and description list and you'll see a link (blue letters) to the Installation instructions........open that and read the full description.......the bonus is at the end of the install instructions are detailed diagrams......this should help you solve your install issues......report back to the forum if you're still have issues.......may the force be with you.......

Great...thanks. I must have an old version of the instructions because mine do not have those drawings. And I noticed that since I bought mine...looks like they have added a firewall brace bracket that I don't have. Mine was the CK-165M which looks like it has been rev'ed to the CK-167-M.

The ck-167 is for 67-68. The ck-165 is for z66-66. There are major differences, so you need the right firewall brace. Talk with Michael if you have the wrong year kit. The ck-165-M kit will NOT work on a 67-68.

There is a clip for it. Here it is:
I always use the clip. Others don't. Seems to be no issue either way, I'm just a stickler for how stuff was from the factory.
