Thinking through the Mustang project and my rewiring that I will be doing. I'm already starting with the 3g alternator, mega fuse and dual electric fans.
Have an American Autowire harness to rewire the car. I'm debating moving the solenoid down to near bottom of fender apron. Thinking this will clean up the engine compartment and make for a clean install.
Any of you guys done something similar? thoughts?

I did a lot of staring over the fender thinking things through, picturing how it would fit and work. It does help, tell your better half you not just day dreaming.
Moving the solenoid down low should make for a cleaner installation.
With your AC compressor down low and hoses routing in the area, will the solenoid be accessible for maintenance or replacement later on? Seems like your block ground would be routed through this area too.
My solenoid is in about the normal location, alternator is down low, and I have 4 MIDI fuse holders low in the apron. There is enough room to get my hands down there to work on things if needed.

I have my straight hard ac lines coming from Summit this week and hope to get these routed and ran this weekend.
Waiting to do that before I mount the solenoid so I can make sure I have enough room for everything and like you mentioned still be able to service or replace things.
I'm mounting the MSD box beside the windshield washer reservoir near core support so that it won't be a focal point. Still need to figure out where to put the Spal fan controller to,
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
