I'm sure you all know that the surviving Bullitt Mustang has been found:
Well today, I visited what is billed as "America's Car Museum" in Tacoma Washington:
And I saw it in person. Here are a few photos:
Apparently it will be at that museum through 7/14/19.

Glad you got to see it too. I was there ten days ago with 182 other Mustangs. What an awesome sight! LOL - I actually reached over the cable barrier and touched it! It is definitely unrestored. The original paint, interior, everything. You can see the video on the wall behind it of the car chase and you can see on the fenders and quarterpanels where the Bondo is showing through where it was repaired in a couple of spots. The wheels are corroding and the drivers rear quarter panel behind the wheel is rusted out. I did notice that the front bumper and valance have been replaced, but the rest is original. I would have posted a bunch of pictures myself but I couldn't get the upload link to work for several days. Thanks for posting the shots. Are you up here visiting or do you live up in this area now? You bio says Texas.
The other surviving Bullitt car (not McQueen's Hero car) that was found as a rusty heap in Mexico is being completely restored (bad idea) and is supposed to be finished some time this year, per one of the LeMay Museum docents who was stationed near the car. He also said the owners of the car in the museum were offered $3 million for the car, and they turned it down.

I just was reading about it recently and was blown away that for the last 20 years it was just an hour up the road from me in middle tennessee.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
