This Vintage air and Dakota digital gauges setup is kicking my Butt!

Seems like I take one step forward and 3 back...LOL     So I have the direct fit Vintage air for non AC 69 Mustang.  I have a oversized radiator that I put in many years ago.  To get the radiator to fit I had to do some trimming on the original radiator mount.  So the mounting holes for where the condenser is suppose to mount is long gone.  Any suggestions?   Thinking of calling Vintage AC to see if they have some longer brackets so I can mount them elsewhere or make my own.   The other issue Im having a 90 degree elbow on the intake manifold for the heater hose.  Bought one at hardware store but when threading it on it hits on manifold.  The stock Elbows are a smaller thread. I think maybe 5/8.  Mine is 3/4 on my Stealth Manifold.  Do I need a adapter from 3/4 to 5/8 to run the stock elbow which seems to be higher and clear the manifold.

After doing some searching on MS Site it looks like I need this bracketry.   Ill have to give Vintage AC a call.

Re: This Vintage air and Dakota digital gauges setup is kicking my Butt!

those pics are of my condenser and the brackets holding it in I fabbed up out of some 16 gauge sheet metal.

All the brackets are just 90 degree bend pieces of 16 gauge sheet metal and holes drilled to fit the condenser.

I made the upper mounts to go under the top of the core support so it would look neater than just bolting to the core support from the front.

Thanks for the info!  Looks like I have to do the same thing!  Is your condenser touching your radiator?

Re: This Vintage air and Dakota digital gauges setup is kicking my Butt!

no there is a small amount of space between the condenser and the radiator.

Re: This Vintage air and Dakota digital gauges setup is kicking my Butt!

You can use a factory style 90* heater hose fitting with this 1/2" NPT to 3/8" NPT threaded reducer bushing. The stealth is tapped 1/2" NPT IIRC.

I had the same problem.  After searching several options, I used an Auto Meter temp gauge extension, #2270, and the stock 90 degree elbow.  Bought the extension from Amazon.
If I remember correctly, I had to re-tap the female end to 1/2" NPT.  The heater hose now sits about 1/2" above the manifold runner.  Manifold is an Edelbrock Performer RPM #7181, engine is 351W.

Re: This Vintage air and Dakota digital gauges setup is kicking my Butt!

If you request the condenser kit for a 24" radiator, it will all fit.  I have a 70 24" radiator in my 66 and used their 1969 kit for a 24" radiator to clear the radiator's width.  I had to trim some clearance in the core support for tubes, but I boxed those relief areas to look factory.

Of course, do not forget to apply MustangSteve's LAW during this installation, where it especially applies due to the many variables of previous customizations.

MS law sure has kicked in...LOL   I took the brackets off the side and mounted them on the top and bottom.  Pulled the condenser in and out 20 times and got them perfect.   Had to replace my T5 crossmember because the digital speedometer gear was to long and hit on it.  Just a lot of screwing around.   I was connecting the vent tubing today to the new vents I installed.  Must need 5 year old hands to connect the tubing to the vents...LOL.  There is no room to move your hands.  I've still yet to put the compressor on but I think that's going to work well with the brackets they sent.  Im going to remove the 5.0 bracket for the compressor and see how it sits with VA brackets that mount to the head.   Thanks for the help.  Steve69

I went to Menards and found that same fitting for around the same price.  Thanks for posting link!   I think Im still going to have to pull the distributor cap to get a full turn on it though.   Thanks Steve69
