I had the new equalizer bar fitted today. Big improvement to the old one, but I have noticed the clutch travel feeling heavier now. Before the new equalizer bar was fitted, the clutch travel was terrible and sloppy (worn out equalizer bar and bushes), but it was not what I would call heavy. Now it seems heavy...
I am wondering if I should change the lower clutch rod spring to a lighter one? I am kind of scratching my head on this one...

All the lower spring does is compress the rod to hold it in position, so removing or lightening or making it stronger should make zero difference. Now, you are applying the clutch instead of making useless motion when you press the pedal. I guess useless motion takes less effort?

So I guess it's just a matter of me getting used to it then...
It was quite a surprise driving it after the new equalizer bar was fitted.

Out of curiosity...
How would people with the original clutch set up describe their clutch activation? Heavy?
I'm trying to get used to the new feel and wanted to compare it with others. The original equalizer bar has been in there the 16 years that I've owned the car, so this is quite new.

My version of heavy might be different than yours...so, my advice is hit some local cruise in spots where you might be able to find the same set up and talk with the car owners. See if they will let you push on their clutch pedal.
Find out how many of the piece match between the cars like factory style vs cable vs hydraulic and diaphragm vs 3 finger.
