Re: Ford four barrel aluminum intake

No direct experience with that intake, but over the years I've made block off plates out of 1/6" thick sheetmetal for things like that and just sealed them with Permatex.  If its for a choke stove it likely gets fed by the exhaust crossover, so if you've blocked that, or choose to block it when you install the intake there is likely no need to even block it on the top of the intake.

Re: Ford four barrel aluminum intake

That is an EGR port, and that intake is typically not something one would use unless they required EGR.  Blocking it with a cover will make the intake usable, but it will never perform as good as a non-EGR intake.

Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.

Re: Ford four barrel aluminum intake

In general, unless the engine has been rebuilt and a lot of stuff changed an engine from 1980 is going to be what I would refer to as an "emissions dog".  In 1980 they were starting to crawl out of what the Federally mandated emissions changes had done to performance, but it would take about another 5-6 years before anything resembling performance starts to come back.

My point is that the intake isn't ideal for performance use, but then again neither is the engine its on.  So, if you aren't planning any other changes to the engine and just want something that runs and drives I would say the intake is fine for the application, just block the port.
