My car: 1964 1/2 coupe, 5.0L, T-5, street or track front suspension, early stage work in progress.
I bought Steve's brackets for front and rear cobra brakes (13" front, 11" rear) for 65-66 Mustangs plus his brake/clutch quadrant and power brake master and booster.
I'd like the option in the future of running this car hard on a track, and would rather not have to upgrade from the PBR Cobra calipers to better ones.
I'm interested in running the Ford Motorsports M-2300-X kit with 4 piston Brembo calipers and rotors.
Has anyone done this, with or without the street or track front suspension, and if so, what wheel did you use?
I understand the 2000 Cobra-R wheel would fit on a 94-04 car, but I am unsure of the wheel offset issues on a 66.
Other than the brackets, booster and master cylinder, I have not made any brake hardware purchase, so I'm open to anything that gets the job done.

The newer wheels will not fit without spacers. The amount of offset used in modern car wheels is quite different from that used on vintage cars.
A 17" wheel should fit the brakes just fine. Width wise you are going to be pretty limited on an early car. A 7" wide wheel with the right backspacing should fit fine with an appropriate tire. You could go a bit wider on the rears if you don't mind running staggered sizes.
Some details on the suspension would be helpful. Certain modifications will affect tire fitment (lowering, Shelby/Arning drop, etc.).

At present, I have no plans to lower it, but I have done the Shelby/Arning drop.
My worry is that although the height of the caliper may fit within the 17 inch wheel, the width may brush the spokes. I may end up buying the kit, put together a spindle, hub, rotor, bracket and caliper, then go wheel shopping with that assembly (I live near NPD - they have numerous 17 inch wheels to try).
I also should be able to get caliper fitment guides from Brembo, but am unsure how to check against wheels, since most wheels don't seem to have detailed profile information.

The Brembo brakes require special consideration when choosing wheels. For example, my 2007 Mustang GT came with 18x8” wheels and stock 12.5” disc brakes. When I switched to Brembo brakes, those wheels would not fit the brakes. The calipers stuck out horizontally much farther than the original calipers.
So, you need to test fit any wheel you want to use directly onto the calipers and rotors you will be using to ensure it will fit.
