Hi everyone, I know this is not quite the right section to be posting this but I figured it would be the quickest way to find out. I was just curious if anyone had some used or even newer stock height leaf springs that they were getting rid of for one reason or another for a 65-66 mustang. This is our father son budget build. Any help in finding gently used and gently priced parts would be greatly appreciated. Anything would be better than the current leaf springs we have. Budget is tight, but let me know if you have some for a reasonable price.
Thanks,
CJ

You should post where you are. Shipping cost could be a deal killer.

Personally I'd type "Mustang leaf springs" into the Craigslist search function and see what turns up. When I need something local to save onerous shipping cost that's where I go. Lots of good deals there.
Another option might be to look at having the ones you have rebuilt. If there's a spring shop in your area you may be surprised by what they can do. They can replace broken leaves, change ride height, etc. Look for shops that deal with heavy trucks; that's most of their business, but they are usually good people who will work with a project like this to help out a fellow car guy.

Re arching used, tired springs are mostly not worth the time and effort! Save up for new ones.
One good reason used ones are out there is because someone had an issue with them.

That's a good point, be sure to check the reason why they are being sold. In the past I've sold leaf springs that were installed, but has less than 20 miles on them. The project ended up not being worthwhile and I parted the car out. You'll also find people who bought them for a project and never even installed them.

Thanks Guys,
I was thinking with everyone wanting mid eye or reverse eyes these days maybe someone might have ended up with something that sat higher then they wanted and went to a different setup. I will keep checking around and saving for some new ones. We are in the Denver area. Oh and I just realized I am posting from my dads login.
Thanks,
CJ

The price you will pay for a pair of new, mideye, four leaf springs will be money well spent. Save the coins on stuff that is easier to replace later, should it not work out.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
