TKO Fluid

Is there a fluid brand you guys prefer for the GM Syncromesh needed in the Tremec TKO 600?

Seems like the Delco or Valvoline brands are not fairly economical.

Re: TKO Fluid

I only run Amsoil synthetic ATF in the T5, T56, and Tremecs.  BUT, if you're looking for economical its likely not going to be cheaper.  Though, there is a member here who's a dealer and can get you a good price on it.  Trying to remember his name...

Still, its going to be in the $10-12/quart range.

Honestly though, it isn't like you're going to change it a lot either.  I pretty much consider the Amsoil ATF lifetime for a manual trans, so long as you aren't heavily racing the car.  In gearboxes, in my experience the oil comes out like ti went in.  Usually if I have to make a repair that requires me to drain the fluid I drain it into a reusable container and pour it right back in when I'm done.  I just line my funnel with a paint strainer to remove any junk that managed to get into it.

Re: TKO Fluid

Modern Driveline sent me Amsoil Syncromesh when I bought the TKO 600. I have since bought Valveoline Syncromesh from the local autoparts. I’m not a transmission guy, so I will stay with what the vendor told me to use for fluid.

Re: TKO Fluid

Yeah I'm not really worried about the cost. I mean after you buy a new tko600 whats another $50.  LOL  from internet search it seems like Amsoil  is the preferred lubricant. Now just to find some locally.

Re: TKO Fluid

If you cannot find someone local to buy Amsoil from you can become a "member" on their website and save a decent amount. My stupid E4OD took something like 16 quarts!
