Turn signal switch or flasher?!?!

Just replaced the turn signal switch in the column and I have hazards working, but no turn signal. Not even steady on lights, nothing, no click, no light.

I thought the bulbs should still turn on even if the flasher is out, or is it just probably busted/stuck in the open position??

Re: Turn signal switch or flasher?!?!

What was working/not working before you replaced the switch?  What year is the car?

Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.

1969. I had no hazards or signals before the switch. Now I have hazards. Still no signals.

Re: Turn signal switch or flasher?!?!

While mine is a 67 the hazard and turn signals use separate flashers. Swap the flashers and see if the turn signals work. You might also check to make sure you have good connections in the harness plug.

Re: Turn signal switch or flasher?!?!

For the overly obvious question, was the ignition switch in the run or accessory position when testing for turn signals??

Looks like its may be about time to start following the wires, anybody have access to a wiring diagram that they can post? I like 12 volt test lights for this. Test it for a good ground, then away you go. The digital multi meters have lied to me in the past because of their sensitivity.

Re: Turn signal switch or flasher?!?!

They may run from a separate fuse, not sure. Don't know where my wire book is, can't seem to find anything lately.

If this forum can't fix it, it isn't broke.

My '66 does too.  the turn indicator flasher is connected to the left side vent duct.  It can be hard to find.

Both key on and off. Nada. I haven't had a chance to locate the other blinker though to test swapping them.

Re: Turn signal switch or flasher?!?!

Check all fuses, then swap flashers, then test for power at the flasher.

What t-signal switch did you use?

Scott Drake from Amazon. Can't beat free shipping versus $8 minimum from everywhere else. Virginia Mustang wanted $20 shipping!!

Re: Turn signal switch or flasher?!?!

Id take a look at harness at the bottom of column.   Un plug it and see if you have power going to the switch. If there's no power then its something other than the switch.

I agree. All the turn signal switches I have replace came sans plug. I once installed the pins a little wrong and my signals did not work. Check there first as it is easy.
