Mine is dead and leaks like a sieve. I can find replacements online but none that are adjustable like the leaky one I have. Anyone have a source for adjustable vacuum cans for my 67 289 point distributor?

Mike,
I looked as summit and the only one they have is for a duraspark distributor and I don't think this will fit my 67 distributor.

If you have a part number, you might find one in the assortment they have on Rockauto.

There is a way to make an original can adjustable .... needs to not be leaking of course.

My original can does not leak but it adds about 40 degrees of advance when vacuum is applied. The adjustable one was installed by the Mustang Barn when I had my distributor rebuilt/recurved. I sent an emal to Dan and hopefully he'll know where I can get the adjustable can.

According to Standard Motor Products catalogue VC31 is the correct vacuum can and is adjustable. I ordered through amazon.

For those that prefer the concours look ...probably the wrong forum for that.

Get 3, I want one.

Get 4 ... I'll be using one on the 390 ... when I find the correct distributor.
Learning to dislike my first attempt at building a concours car. So much easier (and cheaper) to go modified.

Gotta pay for my airline tickets somehow .... we don't all have a company jet.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
