dash lights

My dash lights are not working, the fuse is good I checked it with a tester. I have a 1968 mustang coupe with a 289 engine, the car is stock with the old glass fuses. Before I take the dash apart is there something I should check first, the head lights and marker lights are working. Is it possible a wire has come loose ? Need help. Thanks for your time Al.

Re: dash lights

Are you getting 12 volts at the fuse. The dash lights get their power from the headlight switch. There is a circuit breaker in there. Other things are working so the circuit breaker is good. Goes through the dimmer on the headlight switch. Do you have the dimmer full clockwise? From there to a the fuse via a blue/red wire. Check for 12 volts on both sides of the fuse. Pull the fuse squeeze the prongs a little tighter. From there it leaves from the fuse on a blue/red wire to the dash. Looks like it may go through a plug somewhere. If you have 12 volts at fuse may be bad ground at dash.

If this forum can't fix it, it isn't broke.
