Ford 9" Rear

2 Questions:
1: On my Fairlane PO places blocks on the housing to lower the rear. Pretty ugly job, was looking for new saddles to replace them. Thought that would be an easy find but can not seem to locate any. Anyone know where to purchase a pair. I have another rear I can cut off if need be but prefer not to.

2: The Fairlane was an old drag car. They moved the mount of the leaf springs in to get use full the full width of the wheel for tire. This was move just about 4 inches, about the width of a leaf spring. I was going to move it back to the original position but thought why no leave it where it's at. Can use a larger where it's at. My question is, will I have any issues with handling shock mounting etc? Any thoughts?

3: I haven't been able to upload a pic sense going to windows 10. What's up with that.  I know I said 2, the last one was rhetorical.

Re: Ford 9" Rear

The guy that built my 9" rear end used Mopar saddles. He said that they're thicker and stronger than the Ford ones.

Re: Ford 9" Rear

I have a pair of new in the box Mopar saddles.   I think they are for 2.5" springs.   How wide are your springs? Summit, etc., all have saddles.  I bought my truck's perches/saddles from  https://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/merchant.mvc?Screen=srch&Search=spring%20perch .  They have a pretty good selection.

Thanks, I guess if I would call them by the correct name PEARCH, I could find what I was looking for. A car friend of mine said Summit had them. I searched rear end saddles, rear housing saddles found nothing. I did find a replacement for my rear end, not for the car though. Any who, after calling it by the correct name I got a lot of hits. I did find a good price on a Mustang saddle if anyone is interested in it. Four legged Mustang. Now for leaving the spring mounts in 3 or 4 inches, any reason not too.

Re: Ford 9" Rear

Can't see how it would effect handling/ride AT ALL.  I think those sweeet looking tub'ed out cars that look like a "road-packer" may have some handling issues (other than going straight!).
You are only talking 6/8" total.
Leave'em and enjoy     'phat tarz!'
