driveline angle

Tried using the iPhone app for checking my pinion and driveline angle. Wanted to make sure I'm at least close before getting my driveshaft made.

Looks like the engine/trans is about 4.5 degrees and my pinion yoke is about 3.5 degrees.  So I think I'm close enough to go with my measurements for the driveshaft.

I have seen a variety of desired angles but I think the rear is pretty close.  I might need to make adjustments at the trans mount. Maybe some shims or washers to bring tail up a bit on trans.

I'm not 100% confident in the iPhone ap may buy a digital angle finder to check it again.

Re: driveline angle

I like to make sure the shaft is NOT bottomed out with ALL the weight of the car on the tires. Measure that and then give it a little extra "play" in case of heavy loads and whopper pot hole dips.
You can 'adjust' for pinion angle afterwards.

Re: driveline angle

I've got a Wixey Digital Angle Gauge - model WR300 that I no longer need. You can have it for the cost of shipping. PM me if interested. I used it to check my driveshaft angles when I put the 4R70W in my 68 and had to have a driveshaft shortened.

Re: driveline angle

Where you should take measure from pinion is not the external part but inside in a flat area or where bearings seats .
That exactly what i did to get right numbers , so shimmed the trans between  mount . and worked fine .
Suggested a magnet angle dial instead of a phone  and use on line calculator to check result
bye !
