Im going to install 3 point safety belts in my

69 Fastback.  Is this the anchor point for the upper belt.  It feels round and I want to make sure its threaded before I cut the headliner?  Thanks Steve69

I have no idea so I would pull down the welt and peal back the head liner and look. It doesn't look like you would have to go very far maybe 3 inches.

Re: Im going to install 3 point safety belts in my

The 69 would have come from the factory with shoulder belts bolted to that threaded insert. The bottom end clipped onto the seat belt buckle. I have NEVER seen any of those shoulder harnesses actually in use.  Hopefully you can install something more modern at the floor connection and use that upper anchor point for something to allow the belt to slide through like a modern car.

I have a 64-1/2 coupe and fitted three-point retractable belts to mine, all without the high belt hanging from the roof.

The method pictured will put a downward  pressure on the spine in case of an accident, not a preferred way to mount the shoulder strap.
The upper mount should be above the shoulder.

I installed mine 16 years ago. Extremely comfortable to ride with, but am yet to experience their response if a wreck were to happen. Hopefully I never experience this.
I always thought the shoulder strap hanging from the roof was horrible and would just always be in the way.
With racing harnesses, they are kind of mounted low on the shoulder (I understand there are two belts in this application), so is this not an issue also?

Re: Im going to install 3 point safety belts in my

That is about where I attached the upper belt on the three point harnesses that I installed in my 68. It is the default factory shoulder belt mount location, so I used the same mount. I will have to say that it does cause the belt to ride close to your neck while driving.

Re: Im going to install 3 point safety belts in my

Thanks for the info guys.  This is the kit I bought from Scott Drake.  I think I can mount it either up above or by back panel.    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Scott-Drake-2777-3-Point-Seat-Belts-1968-73-Ford-Mustang-Black-Push-Button-Buckl/312581859268?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

Re: Im going to install 3 point safety belts in my

I seen this on Amazon.  Might help from belt riding on the neck.   Im going to install the harness in the roof.  I was thinking of going in the back panel.  But my fastback panel is to wide for the bracket that mount for the belt.   https://www.amazon.com/Seatbelt-Adjuster-LICY-Universal-Automotive/dp/B07PCMD9V5/ref=asc_df_B07PCMD9V5/?tag=bingshoppinga-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid={creative}&hvpos={adposition}&hvnetw=o&hvrand={random}&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=e&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl={devicemodel}&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4583932701661824&psc=1#customerReviews

Re: Im going to install 3 point safety belts in my

I bought these from Wesco. The long sash drops the belt down over your shoulder, not your next. They are very comfortable to wear. Custom colors can be ordered, but can't be returned. Since I wanted a non returnable color, I bought the rear seat no retractable belts to color test. I didn't think about asking for color samples!! The long sash part and plastic sleeves only come in black. When I bought mine, a free sliding clip like the late models  was not an option. Dig through the web site or make a call to them.

Re: Im going to install 3 point safety belts in my

Wish I would of seen this before buying mine for $179.   The set I bought through Scott Drake looks more like the original belts though.   Im going to call Wesco and see if the sell just the 8" belt sash.  Thanks for the link!

Re: Im going to install 3 point safety belts in my

Is there as possibility of returning the Scott Drake stuff? The way the belts are sewn together, it might be difficult to add the sash. Best of luck.

I might be able to since I bought them through Summit.  I was able to slip the old sash off.  So Im thinking the longer sash will work.  I sent a message to Wesco on if they sell the individual sashes.   Thanks Again!
