Hey MS, or anyone who might have a clutch cable on their 69 with a 351w and toploader, any reason the MS clutch cable can't be adapted to a 69? I see MS doesn't offer a kit for the 69, what's the reason the 69 isn't included, is it because of a different clutch pedal on the 69?

69 and 70 have a cowl floor that sits real close to the top of the clutch pedal so there is no room for a quadrant atop the pedal. This is because the windshield wiper motor moved from under the cowl to atop the cowl on those cars. That lowered the cowl floor.
I came up with a design for a cable setup for the 69-70, but never had a car to use for a prototype before I sold the company.

Toploader bellhousing also requires modification for a cable system.

Top loader originally pushed the clutch arm?
Could a quadrant be added in the vertical plane?
Go through toe-board, follow floorpan rearward and large radius 180 around to clutch arm.
I figure less than 270 degrees and large radius might be ok.
Is it a “bone stock” transmission?😁

Break it? Nooo. But it's not fun to drive since it can't be modified to manually shift into all of the 4 gears. 1 & 2 can be manually shifted with a new valve body, and 1,2 & 3 can be done with the epoxy mod, but once in third it automatically shifts into OD. Too bad they don't make an overdrive auto trans with a controller Shoulda listened to Corky when he was pushing the 4R70W.

Well... why not? When I was using the FMX and 2.50 gears, it performed really well. Take offs and around town driving was not an issue with the torque the 393w has. Highway driving rarely got above 2,300 rpm. Did you think the big 2.50 gears will behave differently around town with the toploader than the auto? My first 56 F100 had a 352fe, toploader and 2.80 gears and didn't seem to suffer any.

You won’t have the advantage of the torque converter’s torque multiplication. I would think it would be a real slug off the line, but if YOU like it...

Ya... there's that Steve. I was thinking that the torque converter might help the auto with the 2.50 gear on take offs. Maybe I'll first do the epoxy mod to the original vb which has been replaced with one that shifts pretty hard. Don't think I'd miss those hard shifts.
