I have a complete disc brake set up,from a 1968 mustang,spindles,rotors,calipers,dust shields,hoses etc. I would
like to put on my 1967 mustang. I have a set of styled steel wheels 14"x 5 1/2", (like new) on the car with drum brakes,
the 1968 wheels are 14" x 6".There is about a 1/4" difference in back spacing 3.87 " to 4". Would I be able to use
a shim on the front of the 68 rotors to use the 67 wheels on the 68 disc brake setup? (front only). I will be pulling
the 289 out and putting in a 351 w I couldn't think of a better time to change out the master cylinder and valving for
the disc setup. I figure some one has come up on this before, could use your help and input !.

I have done that exact swap before. As you know, the wheels will not bolt up and clear the caliper. On the particular car, I did alot of grinding on the calipers for clearance, but I would not advise you do that.
A wheel spacer might work. To test before installing the brakes, do this.
Place wheel face down on the ground. Place the pads in the caliper, then slide the loaded caliper onto the rotor as it would be if installed on the car. Then place the rotor/caliper assembly inside the wheel. Sliding the caliper around the rotor will determine if any interference exists. Then try it with a 1/4” spacer between the rotor and wheel.

Dear MS, Funny you should mention that (grinding the caliper) I bought 2 rebuilt calipers years ago, one
had a lot of extra material by the bleeder valve, one did not. I did grind the one down to match the one
with out the "extra material. I guess I can use washers on each stud to see if I can get the clearance
I need before I buy 1/4" shims. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INPUT! If anybody has any info PLEASE
chime in. THANK YOU mustang stu!
