Every year the start of the season at Watkins Glen they open the track to the public. 3 paced laps on the track at 55 MPH for $25. The speedometer in the pace car must have been broken as I was seeing about 105 MPH on the end of the straights before I thought I should start to brake. I probably could have gone a little faster. Boy it was a lot of fun!

Tom, what's your favorite section or turn of the course? From watching, I'd think the S's would be it for me. I've run Laguna Seca, Willow Springs and Riverside in a kart. Riverside was a blast, with the S's up thru turn 6, and going thru turn 9 at top speed being the best thrill.

You've been around long enough for Riverside? That was my favorite until they turned it into a strip mall and houses. The esses were my favorite. No fences then, just about 50 yards of dirt.

Well Steve, I was born in 1956,so ya, I was around. I raced karts during the 80's while in my twenties. Talk about a money pit.

I'll see your money pit and raise you one, this is my 40th year racing SCCA road racing. Started in Karts when I was 8. That was 1957! Raced Karts through college then went to SCCA. I have yet to find a cure?
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
