I have a 68 Cougar XR7 with the stock center console which covers the roll up door area with a big clock and the face of the console is all padded. This makes it nice to look at but is useless for anything while driving.
I remade both faces and at present they are blank but I plan cup holders, and I have eliminated the radio and may use that area for the AC vents If I don't put them in the stock location.

Im not new just have a new title and car AKA BTaylor. But the factory had a big clock instead of the roll up door.
It was all padded and only pretty but useless (at least in my mind)

Oh.....OK I like yours better than the clock deal.
The console has a smooth stainless(or Alum.) top?!
Nice..... but hot if you touch it in the summertime.
Big improvment over stock. One of the guys on here used cup from the casino to use as cup holder. Perfect fit.
I always thought I wanted an overhead console to fit in my 66........butt same thing. They're useless!! I don't even think there is storage room for a pair of shades.

The Cougar has an overhead console with the door ajar light and etc.
I plan to have the raised edge covered in chrome (tape) and the main surface will get a woodgrain vinyl wrap. Hopefully look somewhat a stock style piece. I think if I made it too modern it will not look right in a 68.

Looks awesome...and useful!😎
Like the idea of vents too.

I like it. Just a thought, referenced by the cupholders in my "humphugger" console in the 66,,, If you are planning to install a T5 manual transmission in the future, be careful where the cupholders get positioned. Anything taller than a 12 ounce can and I am contorting my arm to shift without disturbing the drink cup.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
