Who would dump oil into the ground? Me, people who oil the roads, every oil pumping rig on earth, oh... and mother nature.

The oil came from the ground.  All we were doing was putting it back after we borrowed it

Re: Lotsa you fellows are 60+ years old, I got a question fer ye..........

Back in the day, say 1980, working on seismic crews in Wyoming, all the diesel engines on the trucks had a spigot on the oil pan. We'd be out in the middle of nowhere and just open the valves and the oil would drain on the ground; 15 gallons/engine. Change the filter and dump new oil in and we were back to exploring for oil.

On another occasion, when I was about 12, my dad showed me how to change the oil in our 66 Rambler Classic. Pretty easy. Next we had to dump the oil. Dad took dish soap and covered the inside of the toilet with it. Then when flushed the oil was dumped in. The dish soap kept the toilet clean.

Even with all of these teachings I now manage to return my used oil to the recycling station. Go figure.
