Re: I want one!

You should have been with me a couple of years ago at the Mecum auction in Dallas. They brought in the Cobra Dragonsnake drag coupe with the two four 289. They brought it in on Wednesday afternoon for setup. They were putting it up on a high pedestal for display so it had to be driven in. Dual quad full race 289 with no mufflers inside the Dallas Convention center!!!! As soon as the driver got the car up on the pedestal he winged it real good, “just to clean it out”. That tearing-a-piece-of-paper sound that only comes from a 289. Then the lingering smell of race gas. It was a good day. The Dragonsnake sold for $1,150,000 that week, then was at almost every other Mecum auction for the next two years trying to get more. The guy that bought it thought he could get $1,500,000. Finally sold for less than he paid for it.

You can probably get a copy of the video Daytona Coupe for less than $500,000. You might have to sell an airplane or two to raise the cash.

Re: I want one!

Blowing the doors off a Ferrari too!  Gotta love it!  This is what they were built for, and no, I don't care what they are worth today.  Its a race car; its meant to be raced.  If you can afford it, you can afford to race it.
