I have been looking at replacing my trans lines as they have been cut at the radiator, bent and i cant seem to keep the rubber hose on. Seems like the factory would have been fittings at both ends. If the rubber hose is a norm then what is the best hose. or is there a better fix?

Put a bead on the line where it was cut, to help keep the hose on.

Or buy new ones. They have threaded "B nuts" on both ends. You will probably need the fittings for the cut end also.

I would just buy new ones. They should be fittings on both ends. Rubber hose tends to swell and leak when used in constant contact with ATF.

I used some Gates hose when I installed an inline filter and cooler. I installed two clamps at each connection for a leak free (so far) install.

Needs to be rubber to compensate for the rocking of that high horsepower engine you're running!

Or...make them yourownself. If they are cut near the rad it would be fairly simple to use them as patterns. I did the ones for the Heap out of poly-coated tubing using the originals from the Towncar donor as patterns until I got up to the front of the engine...pretty simple.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
