Motor mount brand

Happy New Year everyone. Son and I had to pull the trans out to fix a parking pawl issue. While we were down there we decided it might be good to replace the motor mounts that look to be cracked. Problem is everyone says the majority of after market ones are junk. Any manufacturer suggestions.
Also, a long time back I remember someone suggesting drilling and running bolts through them. Anyone have a link to that or experience with it.
Thanks,
Q

Re: Motor mount brand

You don't indicate what year your car is but, for my 66, I ordered mounts from rockauto...anchor brand. No issues, fit perfect, super price. I didn't do the bolt mod but, you could do a search on the forum....i believe others have.

Re: Motor mount brand

I have and it works good. Just use grade 8 bolts (don't ask)

Pretty straight forward. drill a hole and run a nut and bolt thru. Don't run it up too tight.....leave enough slack for the mount to do its job. The bolt just keeps the engines torque from tearing the rubber in two. Acts a limiter.
Call (or post) if you have questions.

Re: Motor mount brand

When I swapped a 289 for a 331 I figured that it would be more than stock horsepower so I would need better than stock motor mounts. I opted for a set “Prothane” mounts, expensive yes but I will probably never need to replace them.
The mounts are quite solid and an  interesting benefit was that my Tri-y header bolts have never come loose.

Re: Motor mount brand

Thanks everyone. Looks like we will get a set of Anchor and a few grade 8 bolts.

Re: Motor mount brand

Definitely ANCHOR brand.   Cheap and effective.  I do not have the added bolt on my 66 with 500HP 427 in it.  So far, has not torn up mounts.
