locating OEM butt gears

Does anyone have a lead on a set of OEM  8" 2.73s or 2.80s. Just wondering

Re: locating OEM butt gears

Go to the Cherry Island landfill, dig down about fifteen years and there's a set I tossed...

Think I have a set out of the 8.8 in my '89 GT I haven't recycled yet.  Not that they would do you any good.  Of course, as soon as I send them to China to return as brake rotors someone will need them...

I still have it if you want to pay for shipping. 42teeth/15teeth=2.80

Thank you all. I will reach out to the shop Thursday and see if we still need. To all of you do we know the condition of any of these?

Mine is in Australia, so no real help to you. Sorry. I'm sure Dan will chime in though.

Re: locating OEM butt gears

I have a whole rear end assembly I took off of my 66. I built a 9" from a 8" rear with direction from Daze's website. Didn't want to use the original,in case I screwed it up I can go back. You can have as much or as little as you would like for shipping.

If this forum can't fix it, it isn't broke.

Re: locating OEM butt gears

The 2.80 gears are in great shape. Stored in garage.  I was still driving with them before gear ratio change. That was reason for removal. Gears were behind street driven 289/c4 entire life.
