Mustang Door Hinges in a 1964 Ford Falcon

I am a loyal Mustang Steve's customer and former Mustang owner, so don't come down on me too hard. I currently am working on a 1964 Falcon (4 dr., 289-V8, 4 spd.) (Steve's cable clutch pedal assembly is installed), and I would like to know if 1965  Mustang upper or lower hinges will fit the Falcon. I found some old 2009 note on Answers.com that stated that the Mustang hinge is 3/8th inch shorter or smaller. So a no go. I could buy one hinge from National Parts Depot (NPD) and compare it, then return if it is not a fit. Could one of you great Mustang owners provide dimensions, or maybe an old hinge so I can make the comparison? I can pay postage if someone will help. The new NPD repro hinges are not expensive, but the MACS rebuild kits are pretty pricey.

ARE YOU SURE........you can't rebuild your Foul-coon hinges? (jusy yank'in-your-chain-on the Foul-coon remark!!)
I had  a 64 Sprint, back-in-the-day and never rebuilt the hinges butt if they are cast arn like Mustangs they are pretty durn bullet-proof.
Let's talk about it and maybe a picture!

I thank you for the response.
The hinges are rebuild-able with kits from MACS, et al. However, new Mustang hinges are much less expensive and new. I need to have the originals blasted as part of the rebuild, so there is an additional cost. Since you asked, here is a photo of the RR lower hinge.

New is not always better, Instead of having it blasted, you can just use a wire wheel on it to clean it up.Then build it and it will be a perfect match.

Thanks, Jim. I may decided to brush it. I would then have more control over the parts. TM

Re: Mustang Door Hinges in a 1964 Ford Falcon

First, try soaking it/them in degreaser laced with a bunch of ammonia.  Let them soak for a couple of days and then brush them.  That will take care of the paint and most of the grease.

Start cleaning with a tooth brush that is not your daily toilet one.  Then go to a wire brush.   Then you can decide where to go.  However, in any case replace the spring.  That old one has to go.

Re: Mustang Door Hinges in a 1964 Ford Falcon

Great advice from all of you. I have opted to clean and rebuild the original hinges. I did  confirm with Chicago Mustang in Bensonville, IL, that the Mustang hinges will not interchange with the Falcon. After completing one set, I will post a couple pix. For the record, I have owned a couple 1966 Mustangs in the past.

Definitely rebuild what you have. Reproductions are not same quality.
I have a trick for extracting the roller’s pressed in stud if you need to remove it.
