Scored a good deal for 66-70 shock tower engine brackets.
Just received new 2257 Anchor (private label).
Made in USA...Georgia!
Besides just swapping them out.
Winter is here until April-June, so I may not have the opportunity to test drive.
If I have to, I’ll pack the 65 mounts in the trunk for the Bash and change them out.
I didn’t have vibration issues with 65 mounts, hence the question.
Are there driveline angles that will need to be addressed?
What kind of torque/hp can these handle without modifications?

Are you talk'in bout the frame mounts for motor mounts???
Not sure I follow the question.
6sal6
Those should have no adverse effect on drive line angles.

I am using the 66 mounts with my 427 stroker. Nothing broken yet.
I have heard the 66 mounts sit higher than the 65, but have not verified. Does not make sense they would move the engine up as that would cause fan shroud and radiator hose issues.

Those frame brackets and mounts should work fine. Mine is a 67 and takes the 2256 isolator which is no longer made. I had the Mustang Barn rework the 2257 mount to a 2256 mount, a pricey endeavor.
Looking at the picture of the frame mounts, you have the 66, 68-70 version that takes the 2257. You'll be fine.

Total difference between 65 and 66-70 on my car is 1/8”.
That could just be tolerances and new mounts compared to old as well.
Straight edge on fenders, just behind the distributor, front edge of shock mount on both sides.
I noticed a significant difference in clear area under the exhaust ports.
That might be why some headers may require the 66-70 mounts.
Not so much for shock tower clearance, just installation/removal reasons.

Steve, I will have to agree with you about fan and shroud too.
From under car, to install long tube headers, visually appears higher.
Perhaps this is where the “urban legend” started of being 3/4” higher.
I had experimented with raising engine up with washers between engine and mount a couple of years ago.
I was installing long tube headers at the time.
I actually had less clearance between header and tower.
Didn’t make sense to do that, back to stock configuration.
The 65 mounts were initially modified (3/8-16 bolts x2 per mount) when new.
Don’t recall age of them now...I think 2009.
They appear to have settled too.
You were right Sally!

I can confirm with certainty that 66 mounts sit a bit (1/4inch or so) higher than the 65. when installing my Hipo Manifolds, 65 mounts were too low and the manifolds werent clearing, changing out to 66 mounts, they were a perfect fit

Again I will remind everyone that there were three different sets of motor mounts during the 66 model year, depending on when the car was produced. There are differences between them. No, I cannot give you details about the differences. Look at the motor mounts listed in the Rock Auto catalog.

That is news to me. Never heard of any differences in 66 mounts. You sure that is not just part numbers differing from one mfgr to another? Or do I have some further edumacation coming?

Here is a link to how the 67 mounts differ from the rest of the years.

Today Rockauto shows up to 3/66 left and right are different part numbers and after 3/66 left and right are the same part number. Very recently they showed a third listing of up to 10/65 and the next 10/65 to 3/66 and the third after 3/66. I bought a pair from them and they did not fit my car. So, out of scientific couriosity I bought a pair for a different time period and they fit perfectly. Doesn’t make much sense logically, but sometimes I have to believe what I actually see.

For a good read on this topic, go to glazier mustang barn website. In their tech section, they have a great write up on sbf engine mounts....

Good timing for me on this post,I'm freshening up the engine compartment right now. The 289 is out ,when I put it back in 22 years ago I ran into the motor mount problem (67 mustang coupe) I used a pry bar to make the 2th mount (aftermarket) it broke the rubber off of the mount. I used the old mounts, they still looked good, I
know their not. I'm putting a 351w in I have new mounts for a 68 up coupe also the brackets that the motor
mounts bolts to (69 coupe) . I'm hoping that this will work out for me,using 69 z bar, factory exhaust manifolds,69 h pipe and 4 spd trans. If anyone has any experience or info PLEASE CHIME IN.
THANK YOU mustang stu

Yup...apparently the Heap has the early (1965) type mounts so I know there are at least two varieties.

I think you'll be fine with the 69 frame mounts.
