I wanted a second set of keys for my mustang.  I ordered a set replica blank keys.  So I waltzed on down to Autozone and asked to get the keys copied. The don't do that.  Strolled on over to O'reily's... surely they can copy a simple set of keys? They don't do that.  Getting a bit annoyed but I think to myself I know for a FACT that the Home Depot copies keys, I've seen them do it.  And yes, they do that.  BUT, they only use their key blanks.  Now, I'm pretty ticked so I skip on to trusty old Ace Hardware, the home town hardware store.  They won't let me down right?  WRONG.  The guy there said he could get fired for using other people's blanks to copy keys.  This was supposed to be a 20 min task I'm flat out pissed now.  He recommends calling a locksmith.  So I call the locksmith closest to my house and they say they only do mobile calls and wants $75 to come out!!  ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!

So I lookup the closest locksmith that has an actual store.  This place was called EXTRA-LOCKSMITH.  They have a location in Fort Worth and one in North Dallas.  Older lady comes out and says yea I can copy the keys no problem.  5 min later she hands me the copied keys and I ask how much and she says NO CHARGE.  I offer to pay again and she says don't worry about it, we just ask that you tell others about our business.  That's how you do business.  I told her I don't do much social media but I am on a Mustang forum and I'll let others know. 

To be fair, it was literally 5 minutes worth of work and 99% of people don't bring their own blanks for copies so I'm not surprised that the entire key copying industry has been automated.  None the less, it was a nice gesture and I said I would spread the word so here I am.  Be warned, if you want replica copies of your car keys just go to a locksmith to have them copied.
