Started with the driver side motor mount.......then repair pin holes in the header I discovered.....had to replace headers with Flow Tech (good fit butt they almost drug the ground they hung so low...after I had the exhaust re done to hook up).....removed and replaced with mid-length headers (Patriot) ...horrible fit and had to beat one of the pipes with BFH to get past the Z-bar......made special wrenches to change plugs...changed exhaust again....removed the X-pipe and fabbed new pipes from headers to mufflers.....welded up a crack in the tranny mount that prolly developed when I jacked engine around changing mount and when Iblew out a rear U-joint last summer and was towed home (forgot that complaint)......developed a huge vibration and thought IT MIGHT BE.....a fouled plug....replaced those.....changed fuel filter hoping THAT was the "miss" I was feeling.....cleaned out the Eddy carb (no trash).....deduced it MUST be a vibration and NOT an ignition miss....went back to the garage where I had the exhaust work done and mechanic confirmed it must be when we welded crack in mount must have changed the pinion angle just enough to change angle and stress U-joint...leave garage and immediately the joint failed and I coasted back into garage parking lot....they replaced rear U-joint and I'm lighter by $60 bucks.....and the vibration is STILL there!
Ordering new mount as soon as I get off this habit-forming web site!!

No way it gets any better Mike, I spent the last two weeks and over $600 cdn redoing the power top mechanism on my car.
My problem is I want to do all of the work myself but have to pay the piper by hurting for a few days after.

stock 66 rear and drive shaft although.....one of the holes in the collar may be wallered out some because one of the caps (on the U-joint) turns when the joint is rotated back and forth

Mike, you could always sell the beast and rid yourself of this revolving "ground hog day" nightmare.....

Mike, there's a guy on the Hamb who has a bunch of used yokes for sale for around $30 in the parts for sale section. They come in different lengths, just measure yours.

These things seem too happen all at the same time and then you get back to rocking and rolling (open header style).

REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
