Wire looms

What do you use for simple effective wire looms on a sbf?

Re: Wire looms

Are you talking about the ignition wires/hold-downs, Steve.  Not sure I'm getting what you are asking.  If you are talking about ignition wires I found the 5.0 system with the extended valve cover studs and the 2, 3, or 4 wire snap on clips to be the best and cleanest I could find.  Getting the special valve cover bolt/studs may be tough but I found the plastic parts through Fox Restoration or on Ebay.  I'll send pix if you want.

If you are talking about something else you can disregard the previous blather.

Re: Wire looms

Okay Steve.  Did a little research and the plastic looms/clips are available from Dorman and various other sources....Google 'em.  The special valve cover bolts are a little tougher to find but I did find some used ones on Ebay.  Also, if you can find one for a pattern they can be made...don't ax me how I know.

Re: Wire looms

Yes that is what I'm talking about. Thanks. I may have some of them laying around.

Re: Wire looms

A nail welded to the head of a valve cover bolt works well to attach the clips.

Re: Wire looms

The original 5.0 valve cover bolts are usually too short or too long unless using original 5.0 valve covers.

Re: Wire looms

With RTV and no additional gasket I'm using stock valve cover bolts on the aluminum "Mustang -Powered by Ford" covers with no problem...or leaks.

Re: Wire looms

I found the fox body wire looms. They worked great.
