I was curious if anyone here has painted their chassis black or red or variations of those. I know that it depends on which factory your car originally came from. Mine is a factory black chassis but it looks like mine may have some metal flake or similar in it. Anyone have a good paint polish recommendation?
Online!
SPI makes both a red oxide and black epoxy that is great for the chassis/underside.

A lot of the car companies mixed leftover topcoats into the primer they used in what they considered inconspicuous areas. Its not uncommon to find primer that has a tint to it similar to a topcoat color, including metallic colors.

I did mine black and it looks great. But if I were to do it again, I think I'd do it red oxide instead because it would make things a lot easier to see when you're under the car. Everything has a way of disappearing into the black paint. Maybe it will be different once I drive it and it gets a little dirt on it.

Ditto. I'd probably paint mine a light grey, and carry it into the engine bay.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
