After personally supporting Moog Industrys by buying so many U-joints....I think my vibration is solved! Here's what I think happened.
My old 'modified" stock tranny was cracked (after many many years) and was down and to the left slightly. When I replaced it and brought it back into tolerance is when the vvvvvibrrrration started and the rear yoke started consuming U-joints. I had been leaving the C clip/locks on the U-joints and the "tit" on the rear yoke was catching the lock....crushing it....and pulling the cap(and needle bearings) off the U- joint and causing a failure. I THINK the accidental 'off-set' from the cracked tranny support was allowing the U-joint to work with all (4) locks in place!!
It appeared to be the worng size U-joint butt everybody said....I had the right one! One of my mechanic buddies and GLEN BUSEK (Mustang Restorer extraordinaire!!) both said to remove the C-clip/locks from the U-joint because the "tits" on the REAR yoke holds the joint in place. Simple task butt very important.
Hope this finally puts this issue to bed and maybe helps somebody else.

So are you saying your U Joints are the inside lock style? I've read about them but never seen one on a Mustang.

Incredible that i am in the same issue , same point , same "ears" that create problem . Checked the pinion yoke now has some freeplay with 1.062 cap ( not correct size ) ,. and deformed from wrong spin -
the correct 1.162 big cap wont enter .
Now my problem is to find the new pinion yoke ( not so easy ) cause "dennys driveshafts " dont ship to italy .
Sally these is what i found : hope it helps 741962 Pinion Yoke fits Ford 8 inch rear end 25 splines fits 1310 series u-joint 3.219 x 1.125

My shaft yoke.......the U-joints use the INSIDE LOCKS.
I have a rear yoke that one of the Mustang Steve guys sent me. It is for an 8" stock Ford rear end. IF........it will work in your application...let me know and I will send it to you.
I just hate to send you the wrong part.
Sounds like it is just-what-you-need .

Drive shaft rear uses the c clips to hold the caps in. C clips not used on the rear end yoke. The tits do the job.
On the front of the driveshaft, both the shaft and the yoke use the c-clips. Glad you figured that out, sal!

I must give credit where due. 6sally6 came up with the TITS description.

I have never seen a 1st Gen Mustang driveshaft or yoke with internal C clips. All have had the external lock rings or the tits on the pinion yoke.

ACTUALLY...
Clarification:
When I was talking c-clips, I was thinking of the funky shaped clips that go on the OUTSIDE of the ujoint cap, and clip into a groove on the driveshaft or yoke, not the kind that clip onto the ujoint cap groove towards the center of the ujoint.
I have never had to ACTUALLY my own post before, but it seemed appropriate here.

Hey..............check out my tit!
This picture shows (side view) of the "tit" that holds the U-joint in position on the rear yoke.
This is a pic of the old shaft before I figured out the lock ring problem....You can see where the u-bolt had a little damage.

PLEASE just post a picture rather than sending on wild goose chase link to somewhere else.

AFAIK😁...
I’ve always heard the outside retainers as snap rings and inside retainers as clips.
