Went to harbor freight today and bought a pair of ramps. The plastic ones with less incline for cars with low spoiler front ends.Went to check out and the clerk asked me if I wanted the $7.95 warranty. I told him if they fail, I'm a dead man. What good is the warranty?
I give him credit, he wanted that bonus sale and asked, what if they fail before you get under the car? What happened to the days when a warranty was included because it's a quality produce?

Zachary! When they axe me if I want to buy the extended warranty I tell them if the factory warranty isn't good enough maybe I shouldn't buy it.

I have always agreed with that line of thinking, BB2. Butt (TS&T), we are certainly glad that we popped for the 'stended warranty on that F150...ain't we?

I look at most things that Harbor Freight sells as disposable anyway. If I am looking for a high quality long lasting product that I am going to use regularly, I'm shopping elsewhere. But that's fine, I know that going in and things are priced accordingly. And I do have my share of Harbor Freight things and, for the most part, they've been fine.

Ya, I've yet to buy something at HF that wasn't disposable. Things like newer vehicles are well worth an extended warranty.

I never get the extended warranty on anything. They've been proved to be a money maker for the seller, nothing more. What I will say about HF though is that anything I've ever broken I've just taken it back to the store, said "This broke, I don't have my receipt, can I just go grab another one?" I've yet to be told no.

Several years ago a friend bought a set of nut drivers from HF, the first time he went to tighten a nut, he couldn't get the nut tight ... he then realized the handle was spinning of the shaft.
I also buy items from HF, but am selective, and careful, with what they are.

Several years ago (so long it was the old forum) I talked about buying a non-contact thermometer from HF. Someone on here said it was a waste of money buying it from them as it would be dead in a couple of years from dryed out capacitors and diodes and such. Anyways, I will report that it still works great today! That has been one handy and useful tool! That said, I've broken a few HF things, I've also broken a lot of craftsman sockets over the course of my life as well. I do have a set of HF impact sockets, I've only broken one. A 17mm. They replaced it. You just got to be prudent about what you buy, and then temper it with caution as you use it. There are good thing in that store alongside the unkjay.
Edit: one thing their cheap wrenches and sockets are great for is when you have to modify a tool for a special job. No guilt.
