The Nitto 555 is a great tire, but they are "squarer" than other brands of the same size.
Isn't a square tire harder to roll than the round ones?
Only if you want to drive the car!!!

A lot of great answers, but never did I hear what tire size he needed! Most tires are not made in the same type for smaller sizes as they are for the larger diameter wheels. And vary widely between speed ratings.

I got a pair Dunlop 245/50r15 (made in Japan) for the back of the red car in Feb. It's real limited for 14's & 15. There's still BFG radial TA in more sizes, but after 3 tire failures over the last 8 yrs I don't do them anymore. Yes the letters are inside
I went with Dunlops as well. Good grip tire. I am very happy with them so far

Sumitomos on both my '67 and '89.
Which ones do you have? I had the Sumitomos with the white walls and the grip was bad. In the wet, they were so bad it was like driving on ice.

Correct! I had 14" rims and due to rather poor tire choices, I upgraded to 15" rims.

That might be the main reason I bought them.

Here all this timeI always though the square tire were for chev pickups with square fender cutouts since the 70's.

It's probably the main reason most people buy them. They do have a, "look", that I like.

Stay away from those DOT slicks 6sally6! Great traction, but don't ever get caught on wet or slippery roads. Like trying to walk across a hardwood floor with marbles all over it.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
