I need some dimensions

of the distance on a Fox body Mustang with 5.0 motor with the serpentine belt set-up, from the back of the block where bellhousing bolts to motor to the end of the water pump.  It should be either 27 1/2 or 29 inches.  My reason for wanting the dimension is to find out if the 5.0 with serpentine belt drive used the short water pump as stock.  If it was used, the dimension would be 27 1/2 and if not, the dimension would be 29 inches.  If someone has a stock serpentine 5.0 Mustang and can give me that dimension, I appreciate it.  Thanks

Re: I need some dimensions

brother, it's your lucky day...........not only do i have a 90 GT but i also have a '91 roller engine on an engine stand.

I measured from the back of the block to the front edge of the water pump and its exactly 29".
That measurement is without the water pump pully on the water pump.

Hope that's what you wanted and hope it helps.

Re: I need some dimensions

Josh-Kebob
Thanks for the info.  That is what I was looking for and I was afraid the 29 inches was what it was going to be.  That means the Mustangs with serpentine didn't use the short water pump.  I need the extra 1 1/2 inches the short pump gives in order to get some fans behind the radiator.  I am going to have to look for plan "B"  Thanks again  retired 65

Re: I need some dimensions

It's hard to un-ring the bell sometimes but V-belts might be the better and cheaper alternative in the long run.

Re: I need some dimensions

gpatrick- I may have to go that way.  One of the reasons I went with serpentine is I couldn't come up with a complete set of pulleys for a v-belt 351W.  Do you know of an outlet for a complete set, A/C, pwr. strg, water pump and balancer?  Thanks  Retired 65
