Re: Factory cruise control

6Sal6, Steve Buzek, and myself, plus the Falcon project are using Rostra with electric servo or vac operated AudioVox CCS-100 systems with the Rostra add-on stock control.  We have all mounted the servo under the dash, to the right of the glove box so the only thing under the hood is about 6" of cable and a little bead-chain.  The Falcon doesn't even have that since we connected the cable to the throttle linkage under the dash.  Far as I know, all of us are tickled with the performance, and I think all are using a VSS for the signal.  Very clean, very reliable.
I think I mentioned, Dan, that the 89 TC donor car I used had the cruise built into the EEC-IV PCM.  Also had a big, ugly servo.  So even if I could have used the electronics I would not have used the factory system.  Anyone who's seen it know I have enough crap under the hood already.

Re: Factory cruise control

Thanks Bob.

My ECM is above radio and below dash speakers.

To right of glovebox?  Any pictures without disassembling.

I have stock heater box too, as a reminder with the vent door on the far right.

Re: Factory cruise control

You mean the ECM in your 66, Rat?  The aftermarket CC servo will mount behind the right end of the dash, just right of the glovebox.  With just as touch of figgering you can attache it to the A pillar above the bottom dash lip or to the dash itself.  the cable will run under or over the glovebox and make a sweeping turn to the firewall where a normal person can drill and use proper fitting to stop the housing and let the cable run on into the engine compartment....right behind the throttle linkage.   Butt (TS&T) having EFI with the throttle body on the right you might need to do a little more figgerin'.  Like...don't run the cable through the firewall but let it pull on the throttle arm under the dash.  Simple and clean.

And if you talk real nice, I might be talked into making you one of my special five piece, easy to install/removable, re-usable, ABS plastic glove boxes.....maybe.  It's the Cat's fanny for getting to under dash stuff...like ECM's, radios, heaters, cruise controls, etc, etc.

Re: Factory cruise control

I may take you up on that Bob.

Ya know I still have to look at this more in depth.
