Re: Body Stiffening and Rear Seat Divider

On a serious note... Getting a hit from the rear to explode a gas tank like that would be such a massive impact. Wow...
Years ago I was stationary at a set of lights in an old car (car was a few years later than the Mustang I have now) and someone ran into the back of me. I reckon they were doing 35mph when they hit me. The guy claimed that his brakes failed, so he hit real hard. Anyway, there was no rupture of the gas tank or explosion.

Did you fab it yourself?

Yep. All but the cradle anyway. Should've made it too as the coilover brackets were not symmetrical and had to be moved.

Nice work.  It drives me nuts when I buy something to save time and it turns out it would have been less time to just make it vs. trying to rework the part I was sent that doesn't fit right.

Yeah, and here's my question: modern bumpers are supposed to be 5MPH crash rated, right?  So why when you hit a rabbit does the car explode?  I remember a guy skidding into my K5 in the rain in a Cadillac Fleetwood.  Probably a 5-10mph impact, metal bumper to metal bumper.  NOTHING happened to either vehicle.  That would never happen now.  Even the bumpers on my F250 are about paper thin.  The manufacturers could make the cars survive the impact without damage, but then the lucrative parts end of their business would take a hit...heh.
