    Those with non stock radiator... what do you use for hoses? (Pics)

    1966 Mustang Coupe, 1988 Mustang 5.0 HO Swap

    I have a non stock radiator that I'm trying to match up with my engine.  The hoses it had before looks like someone just went to autozone and got some hoses and cut and bent.  Didn't look good and the bends created folds in the hose that were restricting.

    What solutions have you used?

    Added pics of the hoses, Upper and Lower.  The size appear stock to 289.  Looking to find these upper and lower hoses that look better.

    i have a aluminim factory size in my 65 and got my upper from Amazon, fit great, got my lower from EBay with the spring also fit great. Make sure you have the spring in the lower. I have seen the sprin for sale on Ebay too.

    What side is your top and bottom rad outlets?

    I put a 1987 5.0 mustang radiator in my 69 mustang so I used the same hoses for a 1987 5.0 radiator.  I also installed a waterpump for the same too.

    66 with 5.0 using a angled 302 thermostat outlet.  20" Virginia Classic radiator, right inlet/left outlet.  Using a stock 66 upper hose and a stock 67 (289 I think) lower hose with a coil in it.
    Oh yeah, and I had to add a hose adapter (neoprene hose shim) to the lower at the radiator.

    I'm running a fox 5.0 with the fox serp set up along with an alum rad for a 67-68 mustang. To make mine work, I used the following hoses purchased from O'Reilly's:  upper: part number 21736. Lower: 20609. If yours is a similar set up, your question is answered.

    I know ya said non stock but...

    I am using 289 aluminum radiator (in/out passenger side) with 5.0 from 92 mustang.

    Stock 92 accessory drive and water pump (driver outlet) and thermostat outlet.

    Upper hose = C71280 (car quest) bronco 2 lower
    Lower hose = E72622 (car quest) super duty truck upper....modified.
    1-3/4” hose coupler
    Homemade “spring” from solid copper wire - to prevent hose collapse

    Looks like you mmay be able to use 1970 mustang 302 lower hose.

    And for the top hose, use solid wire to make a template of where the ends have to be located...as well as necessary measurements to make sure of diameter and length.

    Upper Hose: Goodyear #60686, Gates #21953
    Lower Hose: Goodyear #60620, Gates #20475
    Bypass Hose: Gates #20662 (0.75" x 0.625" version)
    Note that as I have a 351W in my 65, I had to trim the upper hose slightly to account for the higher height of the engine.
    Radiator is a aluminum Summit model 'SUM-380461'.
