Access to Sandblasting Cabinet in North Texas?

Need to clean off black spray paint off of some gt40 intakes.  Would rather not use chemicals or harsh abrasives.

Also need an NPT insert tap thread set.  Didn't realize those were so expensive.  Anyone go a set I can borrow?

thanks

Yea that's not too far, I can swing that.

You have access to a sand blasting cabinet?  It's an upper and lower gt40 intake I'm trying to get cleaned off.

Re: Access to Sandblasting Cabinet in North Texas?

Are you going to tape or block off all the air paths that heads for the combustion chambers? Some folks say the blast media can get stuck to the aluminum and not come off during the cleaning process. It can come off later when it’s all bolted to a running motor. Supposedly glass beads were the worst. Food for thought. Happy blasting.

That is something I would have never thunk of. Would a good pressure washing take care of the residue?

I agree w/ bolted. I don't think it's a good idea to sand blast aluminum. Some say it's OK to use walnut shells for cleaning.

I also agree with John. Whatever you use as media, mask off all openings. I use masking tape, with Gorilla Tape on top.

I didn’t either......read it on another forum and it made good sense. Pressure washing could do the trick or may not. With the money I have in a motor, I will take a pass.

Any one in the area do dry ice blasting? Absolutely no media residue or contamination to clean up.
My SIL works for a place that specializes doing it. PFM!

I only have sand blasting, so sounds like this may not work if this gets into the aluminum. I've only used on steel parts.

Any chance I can come do this during the weekend?  I'm actually selling these but want to tray cleaning them off anyway.  PM me.

Re: Access to Sandblasting Cabinet in North Texas?

Sell them as is. No amount of work cleaning will glean you the extra dollars you want vs the time spent.
