Wanting to replace my stock 68 belts in my FB. I currently have 70 Mach1 high back seats and plan to keep them for a while. Looking for a good retractable system that is reliable, and of good quality. Scott Drake? Wesco?

I've had the Wesco three point belts in my 68 for quite a while now. No problems with them, and install was not a problem.

I'd avoid anything made by Scott Drake. Since that company went corporate and Scott Drake has nothing to do with it anymore they've basically destroyed any good will or reputation the name once held.
Here's another option:
These guys have a good reputation and are made in my home state.

I bought three point retractable belts from Wesco and like them a lot. They are one of the few I found with a 7” drop down sash that helps the belt to ride better across your shoulder. Their site is easier to work from a computer if you want to see all the options offered.
They offer a bunch of different colors for the belts themselves. The plastic sleeves, sashes, and cover over the retracting mechanism is black only. I had to do a little painting to get it where I wanted. Special order colors are not returnable. They were good to work with over the phone with questions.

Ditto BTF's comments. No issues with my Wesco belts.

I used these from CJ pony, no idea of the make, but they looklike Wesco.

When I converted a 65 to right hand drive, a requirement was 3 point belts front and rear, retractable on the front only. And baby capsule restraint mounting points in the rear. Wesco were the only ones that met our stringent requirements.

I forgot they made you do that in Oz. Craziness. We can drive RH drive cars here by contrast and anything over 25 years old is exempt from having to meet Federal crash or emissions criteria (can't speak for each state on emissions though, they tend to each do their own thing).
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
